Fun run in Everett
A fun run and walk is planned Aug. 28 in memory of Brett Jensen, a Cascade High School graduate, who died May 7, 2002, in a fall at the University of Washington.
The second Brett Jensen Memorial Fun Run and Walk will be held at Legion Memorial Park, 145 Alverson Blvd. in Everett. All proceeds go to scholarships for area high school students.

Nominate a local voice: Public radio station KSER (90.7 FM) is accepting nominations for the 2010 Voice of the Community Award.
The award recognizes local voices who speak up about community or cultural concerns for the residents of Snohomish or Island counties.
The 2009 winner was Winnie Corral, program manager for the South Everett Neighborhood Center and Familias Unidas.
This year’s winner will be recognized at an awards celebration at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 in the Jackson Center at Everett Community College.

Calling all Dakotans, North and South: Anyone with a connection to either North or South Dakota is invited to attend the annual North and South Dakota picnic Saturday at Church Creek Park in Stanwood.
The picnic is scheduled to begin at noon at the park at 272nd Street NW and 72nd Avenue NW. Participants should bring a dish to share and their own non-alcoholic beverage.
