Road work starts in Mountlake Terrace: A nearly one-mile stretch of roadway in Mountlake Terrace will be ripped up and re-paved in the coming days, bringing slowdowns and detours.
Pavement grinding and asphalt overlay on 56th Avenue West, from 230th Street SW to 244th Street SW, was scheduled to begin Monday. Pavement grinding, which will require lane closures but no detours, was expected to last through Tuesday.
On Wednesday and Thursday the asphalt overlay is to occur. This will require lane closures between 236th and 244th. Between 230th and 236th, there will be a detour marked that will use 58th Avenue West. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Public Works staff note that this work is weather dependent and may be delayed.
Pavement marking is scheduled for the week of Oct. 6. This will require lane closures but no detours. The project is a follow-up for the Puget Sound Energy gas main project.
