The Snohomish County branch of the NAACP and the Black Student Union of Everett Community College plan a Juneteeth celebration Saturday.
The celebration is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Senator Henry M. Jackson Park, 1700 State St., Everett.
There will be hot dogs, music and fun for the whole family. The event also needs donations, and Juneteeth T-shirts will be on sale for $15.

Chief search narrows: The city of Lake Stevens plans a public reception June 28 for people to meet the finalists for the police chief job. The five finalists were named in a news release Wednesday and include local and national candidates.
The reception is set for 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Lake Stevens fire district Conference Center, 10518 18th St. SE.
“The community is invited and strongly encouraged to attend,” the news release said.
The city expects to name a new chief in July, with that person starting work before the end of summer.
Free clothes: Everybody’s Closet opens again from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Carl Gipson Senior Center of Everett, 3025 Lombard Ave. All clothing is free to those who attend.
