Memorial set
A memorial service is planned Saturday for Bryce Davidson, a local musician known in part for his Elvis Presley impressions and for running karoake at Patty’s Eggnest, also called The Chuckwagon, at 6720 Evergreen Way. People are asked to share memories and songs. There also will be a slideshow. The event will run from 6:30 p.m. to closing at the restaurant. Land added to Edmonds-area park: Snohomish County completed the purchase of 3.4 areas from the Edmonds School District on Jan. 28 to expand Esperance Park to 9.6 acres.
County Councilwoman Stephanie Wright and County Executive Dave Somers plan to attend a ribbon-cutting there at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 27. The public is invited. The park is on the site of a former school at 7830 222nd St. SW, about two blocks from Highway 99 in a doughnut hole of unincorporated land surrounded by the city of Edmonds.
Money for the $1.9 million purchase came from the Snohomish County Conservation Futures program, a grant from the Washington Recreation and Conservation Office and park mitigation fees.
County and school district officials have been discussing the purchase since 2013.
Mill Creek prepares for disaster: The city is holding a free 90-minute workshop a 6:30 on Thursday to help people learn the first nine steps to take after a natural disaster. It will include instruction on how to work with neighbors to find supplies and look for safety concerns. The workshop is to take place at City Hall, 15728 Main St.
