Skateboarders ages 6 and up will get the chance to show their skills Sunday at Board Bash II, the second annual skateboarding competition at Mill Creek Skate Park.
The free event, sponsored by Mill Creek Parks and Recreation and Community Transit, begins with noon registration at the skate park, 13903 North Creek Drive. Competition is scheduled to run from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Registration is limited to 60 skaters; participants are asked to sign up early. Registered skateboarders will receive T-shirts. Helmets are required. Information: 425-921-5736.
See historic homes: Today’s Everett Historic Home tour will give participants a look inside eight homes, five in north Everett and three on Rucker Hill. It’s also a chance to talk with restoration experts at the old Weyehaeuser Mill office on Everett’s waterfront.
The tour begins at the Van Valey House, 2130 Colby Ave., where tickets and guide books are available. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $15, or $10 for Historic Everett members. Information: www.historiceverett.org.
Bike helmet event: Seattle Children’s hospital will bring its health and safety van to the Kohl’s store in Marysville today for a bike helmet fitting and to give away helmets.
The event is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Kohl’s, 3713 116th St. NE.
The program recently received a grant of more than $160,000 from Kohl’s Cares for Kids, which will help Seattle Children’s distribute 2,000 free bike helmets to children in several Western Washington cities.
