Streets Initiative to reconvene
Everett’s Community Streets Initiative task force is reconvening April 19 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Hampton Inn Everett, 2931 West Marine View Drive. The task force, set up nearly two years ago to tackle problems associated with chronic homelessness, will discuss progress that’s been made since it issued it final report in November 2014. City staff also will discuss their priorities through its Safe Streets plan. The meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast on the Everett Channel.
Soccer camp: The Everett Police Department’s Casino Road Soccer Camp is scheduled for the week of June 28. Families have to register in person. Camp is limited to 300 children ages 8 through 12. The cost is $20. A registration event is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 525 W. Casino Road.

Historian to speak: David Dilgard, an award-winning historian in regional history, will speak at the program meeting of the Woman’s Book Club, 1 p.m. Monday in the Everett Public Library’s downstairs auditorium, 2702 Hoyt Ave. Dilgard will discuss the 122-year history of the Everett-based book club and its ties to the area’s first library. The presentation is free and open to the public. More information at womansbookclub.org.
Toastmasters competition: The public is invited to watch the Toastmasters Division E Contest at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Kirkland Congregational Church, 106 Fifth Ave., in Kirkland. The event is free. Local Toastmasters will be among the public speaking competitors, including two from the Snohomish chapter.
