Soap boxes roll today in Stanwood

A Stanwood-Camano Soap Box Derby begins at 10 this morning along 276th Street NW at the Stanwood Community and Senior Center in Stanwood.

Watch more than 30 gravity racers compete in cars sponsored by local businesses. There are two racing divisions: stock cars and super stock cars. The winner of each division will win a trip to compete in the 71st annual national Soap Box Derby July 26 in Akron, Ohio.

Music and prizes at Bothell skate park

The City of Bothell offers a Push &Pedal Skate Park event from noon to 4 p.m. today with music, demonstrations and trick prizes.

Everyone from pros to beginners riding bikes, boards or scooters will have a chance to show off their skills at the Bothell Skate Park, 9815 NE 188th St.

Strawberry Festival parades tonight

The 77th annual Marysville Strawberry Festival intends to have some grand and explosive celebrations tonight.

At 6 p.m., the Kiddies’ Parade moves southward on State Avenue, beginning at 80th Street NE and heading toward Third Street. The kids will be followed by the Grand Parade at 7:45 p.m.

The night concludes with fireworks at 10:05 p.m., also along State Avenue.

Horse camps starts in Stanwood

Warm Beach Christian Camps and Conference Center presents its summer horsemanship camps beginning next week.

The weekly camps, which start June 29, include horsemanship instruction plus trail rides, chapel, campfires, showmanship and vaulting. Skill level classes for ages 10 and older will be offered.
