Pass highway closed all weekend

The North Cascades Highway is closed again because of the danger of avalanches, and it will remain closed all weekend.

The cross-mountain route had opened May 1 to traffic, but warmer temperatures have caused extremely unstable conditions in potential avalanche areas, state Transportation Department spokesman Dustin Terpening said.

Commuter fair is Saturday

A free expo to encourage more commuters to take buses in Mill Creek is planned Saturday.

People can get bus pass coupons, food, entertainment and also climb aboard Community Transit’s double-decker bus at the event.

It’s a kid-friendly event, with carnival games, caricature drawings, performances by Tim the Yo-Yo man, face painting, an inflatable obstacle course and more.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mill Creek Foursquare Church, 1415 164th St. SW, Lynnwood. Bus routes 114 and 115 serve the church.

District court celebrates Law Day

Snohomish County District Court, South Division, celebrates Law Day on Friday at 20520 68th Ave. W. in Lynnwood.

About 800 fifth-grade students from the Edmonds School District will participate in events to demonstrate the U.S. justice system, including:

@1. Body FYI Bullet:A criminal mock trial, under the direction of attorney Paul Hanson.

Law Day Jeopardy with Terri Jamison, retired court clerk, and her son, detective Greg Jamison of the Lynnwood Police Department.

Tracy McMillan, Snohomish County DUI and Traffic Safety Task Force coordinator.

Officer Scott King with the Mountlake Terrace police with K-9 dog Hunter; trooper Chris Caiola of the State Patrol and Lenny; and trooper Dave Edwards of the State Patrol and Moose.

The Everett Post Office invites folks to attend a free “eBay Days” informational session Saturday.

Two events will be at the Everett PUD auditorium, 2320 California St., one from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and another from 2:30 to 4:30. Space is limited to 275 people per class.

To reserve a spot send an e-mail to seattlesmallbiz@ usps.gov with contact information and the preferred class time.

Please arrive 15 minutes in advance of the class as all reservations will be given away after that.
