Donate your hair for Locks of Love
Get haircut from 6 to 8 tonight at Fantastic Sams, 13314 Bothell-Everett Highway in Mill Creek, for Locks of Love.
Students at Little Cedars Elementary School will be there, donating their hair to be made into wigs for kids with cancer.
Also, starting at 5 p.m., a friends and family night at McMenamins, 13300 Bothell-Everett Highway, is offered to raise money for a school playground.
Start practicing to sing at AquaSox
The Everett AquaSox Baseball Club will conduct a tryout at Everett Mall on May 17 for hopefuls who want to sing the “Star Spangled Banner,” “God Bless America” and “O Canada” at Sox games during the 2008 season.
Registration for tryouts is under way and is limited to the first 70 applicants. Register at www.aquasox.com. Registration will not be accepted by phone.
Once registered, each applicant will be assigned a scheduled time to audition before a panel of judges at the tryout. Requirements for the tryout are as follows:
@1. Body FYI Bullet:All auditions are voice only — no tracks or musical accompaniment will be allowed.
Must choose to sing only one of the three songs.
Lyrics must be memorized.
Featured song must be completed in under two minutes.
All registered participants will receive a gift bag the day of the tryout. The AquaSox Home Opener will be June 22.
Stamps feature classic ’50s cars
Fancy cars of the 1950s will be featured on postage stamps available this fall.
The 42-cent stamps go on sale Oct. 3 and feature paintings of a ‘57 Chrysler 300C, a ‘57 Lincoln Premiere, a ‘57 Pontiac Safari, a ‘57 Studebaker Golden Hawk and a ‘59 Cadillac Eldorado.
The price of sending a first-class letter goes up a penny to 42 cents May 12.
Sultan food bank needs helpers
Sultan Food Bank, which provides food to more than 2,000 needy people, needs volunteers.
Hours are available morning through evening and are very flexible. No skills are needed, just a desire to help others. If you have a clean driving record, computer skills or an interest in becoming a board member, call 360-793-8609.
