Register to vote by Friday for election

The deadline is looming to register to vote, or for current voters to change their mailing addresses, in time for the Nov. 6 general election.

Friday is the last day to register at the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office, transfer registration within the state and update a registration address.

To change a registration by mail, voters must postmark their forms by Saturday. The form is online, as well as an online address update for voters who have a Washington state driver’s license.

Go online to the state’s Web site at www.secstate.wa.gov/ elections and click “voter registration lookup (MyVote).”

Snohomish County elections officials in the auditor’s office can be reached at 425-388-3444. Offices are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays at the county courthouse campus, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.

Visit open house and horse show

An open house and Autumn Classic Horse Show is planned for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at HOPE Therapeutic Riding Program at the Island County Fairgrounds, 819 Camano Ave., Langley, on Whidbey Island.

See demonstrations by the Warm Beach Vaulting Club and HOPE’s driving program.

Join Conversation Cafe at EvCC

Everett Community College will host a Conversation Cafe at 1 this afternoon at 2000 Tower St. in Everett.

Join the drop-in conversations. Today it’s “What does it mean to you to be human?” The topic for Oct. 18 is “What do you believe freedom is for?”

Conversation Cafe is in its second year at EvCC, and is part of a nationwide trend of bringing communities together in public places for meaningful conversations.

Single moms can get free car care

A car care event for single moms is planned for 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Clearview Foursquare Church, 17210 Highway 9, Snohomish.

To make an appointment for free oil changes, tire checks, car washes and other services, call 360-668-6033.

In addition, those attending the event will be treated to a breakfast or lunch buffet, child care, manicures, haircuts and gift bags.
