Red Hat Society meets in Lynnwood

Feeling impulsive? The Scarlet O’Hatters, the Lynnwood chapter of the nationwide Red Hat Society, has scheduled its monthly meeting for Wednesday.

The meeting is planned for 3 p.m. in the Oak Dining Room at the Emerald Hills Healthcare Center, 5821 188th St. SW.

The group is for women only, with those 50 and older wearing the red hats and purple dresses with women younger than 50 wearing pink hats.

The public is welcome at the meeting and refreshments are planned. For more information, call Emerald Hills at 425-776-5512.

City festival ready to roll

Live music, a car show, a bike ride and more are planned for an annual end-of-summer celebration held by the city of Bothell.

The event, RiverFest: Family Fun &Then Some, is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in downtown Bothell between Main Street and NE 185th Street.

Events include a 38-mile bike ride over eight hills in the city. Registration for the ride costs $25.

City conducts survey for parks

All Monroe residents are encouraged to participate in a survey that will help the city assess the future needs for parks, open space and recreational activities. Copies of the survey are available at City Hall, 806 W. Main St. They can also be accessed online at www.ci.monroe.wa.us.

After answering the questions, send the survey to Mike Farrell, Parks and Recreation Department, Monroe City Hall, 806 W. Main St., Monroe, WA 98272.

Thank rescuers at Stanwood event

As a thank you to firefighters, police officers and rescue teams, the residents and staff of Merrill Gardens in Stanwood are planning a public event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Thank Our Lifesaver event is scheduled to feature a complimentary barbecue, children’s games and a presentation. A raffle is also planned to raise money for Support 99, a volunteer organization of chaplains and resource teams who assist after 911 calls.
