Frigate returns to Everett port
The USS Ford, a guided-missile frigate, is scheduled to return to its Naval Station Everett homeport at noon today after being deployed to Southeast Asia.
The ship trained with other Asian naval forces in patrolling for drug smugglers and practicing disaster relief and search-and-rescue methods.
Crew members also participated in a variety of community relations projects such as bringing medical supplies and sports equipment to children at schools.
The ship stopped at several ports, including Singapore, Saipan and Guam. It traveled more than 21,000 miles on the deployment.

Correction
Lake Stevens Sewer District officials expect a rate increase of $15 per month, from $45 to $60, if it is unable to obtain low-interest loans to pay for its planned $72 million sewer plant. If the loans are approved, the increase is estimated to be $10 to $11 a month. A story on Page B1 on Monday misstated the amount of the increase if the loans come through.
