The Stanwood Community and Senior Center will host a free seminar on strokes, their causes and their treatment from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The seminar includes an educational video featuring Dr. Mark Alberts.
The video defines what a stroke is and addresses what causes a stroke, when an individual is at an increased risk of having a stroke or heart attack, recommended lifestyle changes and medications, and how they work.
Services Coordinator Barbara Riffle will lead the seminar in the center’s conference room.

The State Productivity Board is asking people to recognize public employees who have gone the extra mile.
The Extra Mile Award is given to an individual or group of public employees who surpass expectations for exemplary public service by demonstrating at least one of the following attributes:
Approximately 10 to 15 people statewide will be selected and honored with this award. Winners are recognized by their agency for their outstanding qualities.
