ARLINGTON — Volunteers at Purrfect Pals Cat Shelter and Sanctuary in Arlington are offering the shelter’s 12th annual Black Cat Ball on Saturday evening at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue.
The event will feature a gala dinner and a silent and live auction with more than 500 items valued from $20 to several thousands of dollars up for bid. Tickets cost $100.
The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for Purrfect Pals, and the organization expects around 300 people to attend, said Dawn Ritter, the Black Cat Ball co-chair.
“I’m very excited about the number of auction items and the amazing donations we have received this year,” Ritter said. “The auction is a great event for a great organization.”
The gala dinner and auction benefits the Purrfect Pals no-kill sanctuary, foster and hospice care for homeless cats.
The shelter is one of the Northwest’s largest cat-only, no-kill sanctuary and adoption organization. Purrfect Pals finds homes for more than 2,000 cats every year, performs more than 3,000 spay and neuter surgeries each year and provides lifetime sanctuary to more than 250 permanent resident cats.
Since its founding in 1988, Purrfect Pals has adopted out more than 24,000 cats. Ritter said with today’s economy, and home foreclosures that result in people not being able to keep cats, they are swamped with kitties that need good homes.
Ritter, who lives on Whidbey Island, said a kitty, available for adoption, might make an appearance. For more information, go to www.purrfectpals.org or call 360-652-9611, ext. 4.
