EVERETT — The Glacier Peak Institute will host a fundraiser on Thursday to raise money for its programs, encouraging youth to build sustainable rural communities and healthy ecosystems across the Glacier Peak region.
The fundraiser will be at Floral Hall, 802 E Mukilteo Blvd., in Everett, with festivities beginning at 6 p.m. Individual tickets are $75, with sponsorship slots reaching $25,000. County council member Jared Mead will be the keynote speaker.
After the deadly Oso mudslide in 2014, members from Darrington, North Counties Family Services, Washington State University Extension and the Darrington School District came together in an effort to invest in Darrington’s youth. The institute engages rural kids with hands-on activities that prioritize integrating science, technology, recreation, engineering, art, mathematics and skill-building (STrEaMs).
