LAKE STEVENS — Hazardous materials teams from around Snohomish County converged in Lake Stevens on Tuesday night after reports of an unmarked bucket emitting vapors.
It was later determined that the bucket contained muriatic acid, a household corrosive that can be used to clean concrete and bricks.
Emergency crews were summoned about 7 p.m. to the 8000 block of 10th Place NE, officials said.
They contained the acid. No injuries were reported.
Crews came from Lake Stevens, Marysville, Everett and Fire District 1.
It was the second emergency response for muriatic acid in Snohomish County in the past few weeks.
Highway 9 was shut down for about an hour Oct. 24 in the Maltby area while troopers investigated a container labeled “corrosive.”
The container was later determined to be holding muriatic acid.
