Help fill Edmonds food bank cupboards

The Carol Rowe Memorial Food Bank at Edmonds United Methodist Church is seeking food and cash to keep its shelves stocked.

The food bank, which serves about 1,200 people in 300 families 50 Tuesdays a year, always needs peanut butter, cans of tuna, luncheon meats and cheese. Powdered baby formula also is on the most-wanted list. Call 425-778-5833.

Lynnwood police seek stuffed toys for children

Lynnwood police are asking for donations of new or gently used stuffed animals.

Police use the stuffed animals to help comfort children who have been involved in traumatic incidents.

The stuffed animals may be brought to the Lynnwood Police Department at 19321 44th Ave. W. The station is open 24 hours a day. No other toys will be accepted. Call 425-744-6900.

East County seniors call for auction assistance

The East County Senior Center is seeking donations for its annual auction.

The auction, scheduled from 5 to 10 p.m. Oct. 22 at Echo Falls Country Club, is one of the biggest fundraisers and critical to the center’s ability to provide low-cost and free services to seniors in the area.

To attend the auction, pre-purchase of tickets is required. The $50 ticket covers admission and a dinner of beef, chicken or salmon. There will be silent and live auctions.

Music teachers piano concert set for Sept. 11

The Snohomish County Music Teachers Association will host a benefit concert at 5 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Dorothy Jayne Studio, 2931 Bond St., Everett.

Funds will go toward recitals, competitions, master classes, workshops and scholarships. The program will be performed on the Steinway piano that is owned and maintained by the association at the studio.

Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for youths. Tickets and/or donations are tax deductible.

Kids go to Farm while moms are queens for a day

Children of mothers attending the Queens for a Day event Sept. 11 at the Lynnwood Embassy Suites will be bused to The Farm Ministries in Snohomish.

There, they will participate in a carnival from 1 to 6 p.m. There will be games, putt-putt golf, playground equipment, hayrides, horse rides, pedal go-karts, clowns and musicians, along with hot dogs, pizza and cotton candy.

Since more than 200 children are expected, volunteers are needed. There will be a setup meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 10 at the farm at 11212 92nd St. SE. Call Bruce Karr at 360-568-5120.
