LAKE STEVENS — A house fire displaced a family of four and destroyed a home near Lake Stevens on Friday morning.
The fire broke out about 6:50 a.m. at a two-story house in the 11300 block of 37th Street SE, between Snohomish and Lake Stevens, said Robert Marshall, fire marshal for Snohomish County Fire District 8 in Lake Stevens.
A teenaged boy was at home getting ready for school when he heard smoke alarms, Marshall said. They boy went downstairs and saw smoke coming out of a downstairs pantry area. He grabbed the family’s dog and got out of the house.
Crews from Lake Stevens and Snohomish put the fire out around 8 a.m., Marshall said. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was undetermined, but there was nothing suspicious, he said. The investigation will be continued by the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office.
The fire likely destroyed the house, with an early damage estimate at $350,000, Marshall said.
“It basically used the stairwell as a chimney and completely engulfed the upper floors,” he said.
The family who lived there, including two parents and two teenage sons, had home insurance.
