Inmate found dead at Shelton prison

SHELTON — An inmate was found dead, hanging in his cell, at the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton.

The Department of Corrections says guards were unable to revive Michael Gilstrap Thursday morning and medics pronounced him dead.

The Olympian reports the 58-year-old had arrived at the prison May 20. He was serving a five-year sentence for assaulting a child.
