STANWOOD — A fire Tuesday night on the Gen. Mark Clark Bridge will not slow construction of the new span, officials said.
The fire, which was likely sparked by propane heaters at the construction project, was reported about 10 p.m.
North County Fire and EMS arrived and found the flame dangerously close to two large propane tanks, Battalion Chief Christian Davis said.
It took about 20 minutes to douse the blaze, he said.
“It’s not going to slow us down at all,” said Dave Chesson, a state Department of Transportation spokesman.
Crews planned to inspect the damage Wednesday and still plan to install giant girders next week, he said.
