Kamiak High School won first place in the 4A division at the Washington State Knowledge Bowl, held March 17 at Arlington High School. The academic contest has teams that work together to answer questions on history, math, literature or science.
The six members of the championship team “are incredibly smart but also extremely good people,” advisor Nina Bakketun said.
The winning team included Abheek Chakrabarti, Margaret Li, Brandon Ross, Sanjay Satish, Joey Schafer and Mitchell Vallins.
Stanwood High School finished third in 3A competition and also received a trophy.
Archbishop Murphy, Monroe, Arlington and Snohomish also were among the 102 teams to compete.
