SEATTLE — Seattle classical music station KING-FM plans to become a listener-supported radio station starting in July 2011.
The nonprofit organization that owns the radio station says that huge changes in the broadcasting industry are behind the switch. It says that by becoming listener-supported, it can better ensure that it can continue to broadcast classical music and support arts groups.
KING-FM was founded in 1948 as part of KING Broadcasting. It is now separate from Seattle television station KING-TV.
