Mukilteo: Fire damages building on Speedway
A Saturday fire in a building that houses a restaurant and children’s clothing store caused thousands of dollars in damage and interrupted dinner for a dozen patrons.
The fire started just before 6 p.m. in the 10800 block of Mukilteo Speedway where the Convergence Zone restaurant shares a building with A Children’s Warehouse, a shop in the building’s basement, said Leslie Hynes, Fire District 1 spokeswoman.
A restaurant employee smelled smoke and saw flames above the awning for A Children’s Warehouse. About 15 people were evacuated from the restaurant along with a children’s store employee, Hynes said.
Firefighters from Mukilteo and Fire District 1 used a thermal imagining camera to pinpoint an electrical fire in a wall, Hynes said.
Preliminary damage estimates were $15,000. No injuries were reported.
