Man who died fleeing police identified
MARYSVILLE — The 18-year-old who died in a car crash trying to flee police Friday night was identified by the Snohomish County medical examiner as Randall B. Privrasky of Marysville.
His death was ruled accidental, the medical examiner said Tuesday.
Police said Privrasky was speeding when a Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy tried to stop him. Privrasky’s vehicle left the road and struck a tree, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
Rescue crews took Privrasky to Providence Everett Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the accident continues.
Two injured after car crashes into tree
A man was taken by helicopter to a Seattle hospital Tuesday after a car struck a tree.
The accident happened about 4:15 p.m. at the corner of 55th Avenue NE and 95th Street NE. Marysville firefighters were able to quickly remove the driver and the passenger from the car, fire department spokeswoman Stephanie Price said.
The passenger was airlifted from Cascade Elementary School in Marysville to Harborview Medical Center. He may have suffered head injuries, Price said. The driver was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center, she said. The men were believed to be in their mid-20s.
Both were in serious condition Tuesday.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies were investigating the crash.
Lake Stevens: Man charged in fatal wreck
A felon who allegedly had been driving a stolen Honda when it plowed into a car on Nov. 22 was charged Tuesday with vehicular homicide and other crimes.
Joshua Dale Pettey, 24, was charged in Snohomish County Superior Court. His address was not listed in court papers.
The car that was hit broadside on Lundeen Parkway carried a family returning home on Thanksgiving Day, deputy prosecutor Ed Stemler said.
Jack VanHouten, 78, a passenger, died a few days after the crash, Stemler said. The collision contributed to his death, Stemler added. Three other occupants of that car were severely injured, he said.
The Honda’s driver broke out a window of the stolen vehicle and ran from the accident scene. Pettey also is charged with hit-and-run and possession of a stolen car. All three felonies were committed while he was on community placement from previous convictions, Stemler said.
He previously was convicted of drug possession, attempting to elude a police vehicle and possessing stolen property.
