Startup: Customers need to boil water
Startup Water District customers are being asked to boil their water until later this week to protect against bacteria contamination.
People who use the Startup water system should boil all water for three to five minutes. This includes water used for drinking, brushing teeth, washing dishes, making ice and similar purposes.
A line break along U.S. 2 on Sunday caused a loss of water pressure in the system, which opens the potential for bacteria to enter the water lines.
Bacteria can cause short-term symptoms such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea and headaches.
To check on the status of the boil-water advisory, call the Startup Water District at 360-793-1833.
