LYNNWOOD – Three people were taken to the hospital early Sunday after a fight that followed a possible attempted robbery north of Lynnwood, police said.
Two of the three people injured were suspects in the incident, and the third was a neighbor who had come to the aid of the alleged intended victim, said Jan Jorgensen, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
Shots were fired, but no one was hit, Jorgensen said. Injuries were inflicted with a baseball bat and a machete, she said.
One of those injured was treated and released from the Colby campus of Providence Everett and subsequently booked for attempted robbery and first-degree assault, Jorgensen said. The other suspect’s injuries were more serious, while the exact condition of the neighbor was not known, Jorgensen said.
“They’re all going to recover,” she said.
Names, ages and hometowns of those involved were not available late Sunday.
Police were investigating the possibility that drugs were involved in the incident, Jorgensen said.
Shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday, three men in a car being driven by a woman approached a trailer in the 2700 block of Lincoln Way, Jorgensen said. As the men tried to break into the trailer, they exchanged gunfire with the neighbor, she said.
A fight ensued in which the neighbor used a baseball bat and the resident of the trailer wielded the machete, she said. Each of the three suspects had a gun, she said.
“It’s a miracle that somebody wasn’t shot,” Jorgensen said.
The intended victim had minor cuts and did not require medical attention, Jorgensen said.
The woman who drove the suspect vehicle was held for questioning, she said.
