BELLEVUE – A Lake Stevens man was arrested Friday for what police believe was an attempt to meet a 14-year-old boy he’d been talking to on MySpace.com, a popular Internet site.
The man, 58, is being held at the King County Jail on $200,000 bail for investigation of child luring and communication with a minor for immoral purposes.
In the past, two restraining orders were issued against the man in Snohomish County prohibiting him from seeing three teenagers, according to court documents.
Bellevue police allege the man went to the Bellevue Square Mall on Feb. 7 to meet up with the boy and some of the boy’s friends, Bellevue police spokesman Greg Grannis said.
The man offered a six-pack of Coors beer to the boys, the documents said. The boys ran away when the man allegedly asked them to get into a truck.
The boy’s mother called police, documents said.
The man used a MySpace.com account to meet the boy, documents show.
On the page the man says he is 58, married and bisexual. Several members listed as friends on the site appear to be young men.
Police found explicit photographs on the man’s computer they believe he sent to other boys, a felony, Grannis said.
Additional charges may be filed against the man, he said.
The man is on administrative leave from his job as a mechanic with Snohomish County Solid Waste, according to the court papers.
