Man arrested after 8 held at gunpoint

EDMONDS – An Edmonds man is behind bars after eight teenagers were held at gunpoint after a pair of shoes, a sweater and a video game were found to be missing after a party.

The man, 21, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment. Police are still looking for another man who the teens say helped the man in custody hold them at gunpoint, Edmonds police Sgt. Don Anderson said.

A 17-year-old girl called police early April 6 and said she and seven other friends had been held captive for more than an hour at a home in Edmonds, according to documents filed in Everett District Court.

The man who was arrested lives at the house, according to the court documents. He was allegedly trying to find out whether someone had stolen his Air Jordan shoes, Jordan sweater and a video game. The items were missing from the house after several teens partied with his 15-year-old sister the night before, the documents said.

The man told his sister to call several of the teens back to the house under the guise that there was going to be another party, according to the court documents. When the teens got there, the man and one of his friends pulled out shotguns and interrogated the teens about the missing items, the court documents said.

The teens were ordered to the ground in the downstairs recreation room and were forced to hand over their cell phones, the court documents said.

One of the teens was taken upstairs separately by one of the gunmen. Eventually, the teen came back downstairs with all of the cell phones, and the teens were released. They had been held for about an hour, the court documents said.

The teens said they didn’t know what happened to the lost items, and the theft was not reported to police, the documents said.

Police served a search warrant at the house and recovered the firearms, Anderson said.
