Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives have arrested a man they believe may be responsible for hundreds of car thefts throughout Western Washington.
The Arlington man, 22, is suspected in at least 50 car thefts, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. The man told detectives he stole as many as 300 cars in the last year, she said.
Police were led to the man using equipment that tracks car with the LoJack System, an electronic beacon that allows law enforcement to find stolen cars, she said. Deputies tracked a car to a home in the 18900 block of Jordan Road in Arlington.
Deputies found several high-end cars in various states of being taken apart, she said. The man was found hiding under covers in the bedroom.
