SPOKANE — Spokane County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man in connection with a 1992 slaying of a Spokane Valley furniture store owner during an armed robbery.
Patrick K. Gibson, 58, was arrested in Stanwood on Wednesday morning on a charge of killing Brian Cole.
The sheriff’s office said DNA linked Gibson to the Nov. 7, 1992, slaying.
The sheriff’s office said the robber ordered Cole and his wife to the back of the store, and Cole attacked the man because he feared for his wife’s safety. He was shot in the head and chest. The case was featured on America’s Most Wanted in 1993, but no suspect emerged.
After DNA identified Gibson, he was located in Stanwood because he is a registered sex offender.
