EVERETT — An Everett man was charged with second-degree assault on a child Tuesday on suspicion that he deliberately immersed a 2-year-old boy’s hand and foot in scalding water.
The child had second-degree burns on one hand and one foot after being briefly left alone in November with Jesse Michael Cunningham, 23, according to Snohomish County court documents.
The boy’s mother returned home to find her son crying. A medical exam found burns and marks on the boy’s leg that "could have been from a forcible grip as his foot was pushed into the hot liquid," court papers said.
Cunningham denied harming the child.
