LYNNWOOD — The man who died after being accidentally dumped into a Lynnwood garbage truck last week has been identified.
Around 5:30 a.m. Oct. 25, officers responded to a report of a person in a collection truck on 196th Street SW, said Lynnwood police spokesperson Maren McKay. Investigators believe the man had been in a dumpster during the truck’s routine pickup route.
Paramedics pulled the injured person out of the truck and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died, McKay said.
On Thursday, the deceased was identified as Jason Johnson, of Tucson, Arizona. He was 38.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office hadn’t determined Johnson’s cause of death as of Thursday. Investigators believed it was a “tragic accident.”
