EVERETT — The man fatally shot Monday on Highway 99 has been identified, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Around 6:40 a.m. Monday, a man and a woman were parked in a private driveway in the 13500 block of Highway 99, when the homeowner reportedly came out to confront them, according to police. Some kind of fight broke out between the driver and the owner. The homeowner fired one shot, killing the driver, according to the sheriff’s office. The woman, 42, was not physically injured.
The man was identified Thursday as Emerson Linarez, 38. He died of a single gunshot wound, the medical examiner’s office confirmed.
The homeowner was interviewed by police and later released. The sheriff’s Major Crimes unit was investigating the case.
