Prostitution allegation closes escort service

An Everett escort service has been shut down after officers arrested a woman for allegedly promoting prostitution.

Police began their investigation after receiving an anonymous tip alleging that a prostitution ring was being run out of an Everett apartment in the 9000 block of W. Mall Drive, according to a search warrant filed in Cascade District Court Tuesday.

The tip included a copy of an ad from a weekly newspaper, court documents say. A detective called the number, made an appointment and allegedly was offered sex in exchange for $120.

Police arrested one woman on Oct. 22 and cited three other adults, Everett Sgt. Boyd Bryant said.

Drunken driving sting results in 29 arrests

Police arrested 29 people on suspicion of driving drunk Halloween night as part of the fourth annual “Surround the Sound” police patrol.

A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy and a Monroe police officer also cited three adults with allegedly supplying alcohol to a minor at two stores in eastern Snohomish County, DUI Task Force coordinator Tracy McMillian said.

The effort was dedicated to Mark Pederson, a former state trooper whose career ended when he was injured by a drunken driver in 2002.

Snohomish County officers joined police in 10 other counties to stop impaired drivers.

Oak Harbor: Police continue hunt for girl

Police continued to investigate the disappearance of a 15-year-old Oak Harbor girl Wednesday.

Detectives spent the day interviewing family and friends of Elaine Sepulveda.

Sepulveda was reported missing Saturday when she failed to return home after leaving her house sometime before 2:30 a.m.

Police believe she met a friend at about 2:30 a.m. in the area of SE Fourth Street and Regatta Avenue. She hasn’t contacted her family or friends since then.

Police said the teen’s disappearance is suspicious. She left behind her purse, money and clothes, detective Cedric Niiro said. She also indicated to her parents that she was planning to come home.

Sepulveda is 5 feet tall and 115 to 130 pounds. A flier distributed by police said she might be four months pregnant.

Anyone with information should contact Sgt. Jerry Baker of the Oak Harbor Police Department, 360-240-2818, during business hours, or a dispatcher at 360- 679-9567.

Lynnwood: Trial put off for tanker truck driver

The trial of a former tanker-truck driver whose crash on I-5 in Lynnwood last summer caused more than $1 million in damage has been rescheduled for Dec. 10.

On July 12, Gary Brammer reportedly fell asleep at the wheel of his northbound truck, which struck the railing of the 44th Avenue W. bridge in Lynnwood.

The truck overturned and 11,300 gallons of gasoline ignited and snarled freeway traffic for about 18 hours, according to the State Patrol.

According to the state Department of Transportation, the heat from the fire damaged the bridge deck and railing and cost more than $1 million to repair.

Brammer was fired by Harris Transportation when company officials learned he had not reported an earlier accident involving his own vehicle.

Brammer, 33, of Enumclaw pleaded innocent to the misdemeanor charge of reckless driving March 4 in Snohomish County South District Court. If convicted, Brammer could face up to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine.
