EVERETT — A man may lose his left eye after he was stabbed multiple times in the face in a Friday night incident outside an IHOP.
Around 9:07 p.m., Everett Police officers responded to a report of two men fighting in the parking lot of the restaurant at 10301 Evergreen Way.
A witness reported that one man was stabbing the other, police said. When police arrived, they saw a man covered in blood with what appeared to be a knife in his hand. As officers approached, the man fled in a silver Ford Explorer, later determined to belong to the victim, according to a probable cause statement.
The victim sustained six stab wounds to the face and may lose his left eye, according to a probable cause affidavit. Police said the two men were strangers.
Police pursued the suspect for about 6 miles in a chase that reached speeds of up to 80 mph and included the driver running red lights and passing vehicles in the center lane, according to court documents. The chase ended near the Lynnwood Costco when officers called it off for safety reasons.
The vehicle was found shortly afterward, and the suspect, 45, was taken into custody. The man was booked on suspicion of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery, motor vehicle theft and attempting to elude police. His bond was set at $108,500.
