MARYSVILLE — A 16-year-old boy was critically injured Wednesday after he was shot in the neck by his 17-year-old brother, according to the Marysville Police Department. Police believe the shooting was accidental.
The boy was shot with a semi-automatic pistol about 6:30 p.m. at his home in the 6900 block of 38th Place NE in Marysville. He was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center Colby campus, Marysville police Cmdr. Ralph Krusey said.
The boy was in critical condition when he was taken to the hospital, Marysville Fire Department Battalion Chief Scott Goodale said.
Further updates on the boy’s condition were unavailable Wednesday night.
Firefighters tried to call an airlift helicopter to fly the boy to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, but none was available, Goodale said. There was a chance the boy would still be flown to Harborview during the night, Goodale said.
The boy’s brother was not arrested, Krusey said.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting, Krusey said. Other people were inside the house at the time.
Late Wednesday, police were preparing a search warrant to recover evidence from the boys’ home, Krusey said.
