BOTHELL – A 50-year-old Marysville man died after a collision on the Bothell-Everett Highway south of Mill Creek on Wednesday.
The drivers of two other vehicles involved in the 4:48 p.m. wreck were unhurt, State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said.
The deceased, whose name was not released pending notification of next of kin, was taken by ambulance and then helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle but did not survive, Leary said.
The northbound lanes of Highway 527 remained closed at 192nd Street SE as of 7:40 p.m. and were not expected to reopen until about 9 p.m., Leary said. The southbound lanes remained open.
The accident was triggered when a 21-year-old Bothell woman driving southbound on the highway swerved into the oncoming lanes to avoid a car that had pulled into traffic from a side street, Leary said.
The woman’s pickup collided with the Marysville man’s Mitsubishi. A minivan traveling behind the Mitsubishi clipped the car.
Damage to the woman’s pickup was extensive but she was able to walk away from the accident, Leary said.
