MARYSVILLE — The city is looking for someone to buy or lease surplus property that once housed a Coca-Cola distribution center.
A notice listing a minimum offer of $3.78 million for the property at 7610 47th Ave. NE. was posted on the city’s website
on Thursday.
The 10.28 acre site includes a 21,488 square foot building consisting of warehouse and office space as well as about 50 parking stalls.
“It was something that had been envisioned for a city campus and the plan was to ultimately move public works up to that site,” city administrator Gloria Hirashima said. “As we’ve come into a lot of different budgetary circumstances over the year we’ve been re-evaluating the city campus timeline and really didn’t feel that move for public works was something that was in the plan at this point.”
Anyone interested can deliver offers until 3 p.m. May 9 by completing and signing a Real Estate Purchase and Sale Contract and providing background information in a sealed envelope to Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Avenue.
Packets to submit an offer can be picked up at City Hall or downloaded at http://marysvillewa.gov/property.
The city will consider offers on portions of the property as long as they are not less than 4.6 acres, Hirashima said. The Marysville City Council set a minimum rent of $11,760 a month for the property for a period of five to 10 years.
Marysville has owned the property since June 22 and leased it on a short-term basis to Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. until the end of October.
The Marysville City Council must approve an offer before a sale can be finalized, Hirashima said. Closing of the sale of the entire property is planned to occur by June 30, or by Aug. 31 if it’s sold in portions.
Hirashima said she hopes the council can consider offers by the last meeting in May. She said she has received several calls from people who are interested in either buying or leasing the land.
“We thought it would make it a more competitive process if we advertised,” she said. “The objective here is to get the best return for the city.”
