WASHINGTON — Court records show a Metrobus driver who struck and critically injured a jogger earlier this month has been involved in at least two other accidents on the job.
D.C. Police say 43-year-old Carla Proctor was driving an empty bus Sept. 3 when she hit Amanda Mahnke, communications director for Rep. Rick Larsen (D-Wash.).
Metro spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein says investigators determined that both crashes, in 2003 and 2004, were preventable and Proctor received remedial training after each crash.
Proctor declined to answer questions about the incidents when contacted by a newspaper; she said it was wrong to look at her past driving record. She also was involved in a lawsuit stemming from a crash in her personal vehicle.
Mahnke’s brother says his sister has improved since the accident, but remains in intensive care.
