Mill Creek Senior Center members are looking for a home.
To raise funds to build a center, Mill Creek area seniors have formed the Mill Creek Community Center Foundation, said John Hudgins, foundation president.
Currently, Mill Creek Senior Center programs are held in five different locations, including those at the center’s offices at McCollum Park, center director Bill Durham said.
“We operate as a center, but we really have no home,” Durham said.
When Mill Creek Senior Center programs began in 2000, about 500 seniors were involved. Today, programs serve about 1,400 individuals, Durham said.
“The Mill Creek area has a lot of retired residents,” he said.
The nonprofit foundation was formed earlier this year, Hudgins said.
The group is raising money for a 12,000-square-foot facility, and has a fundraising goal of $3.6 million, he said.
The foundation’s big fundraising kickoff begins in January, Hudgins said.
Until then individuals and groups can mail checks to Mill Creek Senior Community Center, 15714 Country Club Drive, Mill Creek, WA 98012.
