The bodies of two children were found in the ruins of a home that burned in the Beard’s Cove community west of Belfair.
Fire crews were called just before midnight Friday and found the two-story home near Hood Canal engulfed in flames. The fire was too intense for firefighters to enter the home.
Mason County Fire Marshal Craig Haugen said seven people — two adults and five children — lived in the home. It was a foster home.
Two of the children — a teenager and a 4-year-old girl — were reported missing shortly after the fire. The bodies were recovered Saturday afternoon.
The initial caller to report the fire told dispatchers that the fire started in a couch and quickly spread to the rest of the home.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Lakewood: Robbers tie up woman, son
Police in Pierce County are looking for two robbers they say tied up a woman and her 7-year-old son in their Lakewood home after one of the attackers claimed he was soliciting donations for a church.
The News Tribune reported that the department said an arrest warrant has been issued for one man, 57-year-old James Lozan.
Lozan was booked into the Pierce County Jail after the robbery Oct. 4, but was released pending further investigation. He has not been taken back into custody.
Prosecutors charged Lozan Oct. 10 with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of attempted first-degree robbery.
Police also are seeking an accomplice. Investigators have not yet identified the second man.
Olympia: Charges filed against demonstrators
Thurston County prosecutors have filed misdemeanor charges against 26 of the 42 anti-war demonstrators who were arrested at the Port of Olympia protesting Fort Lewis-Iraq war shipments.
Each of the 26 was charged Friday with one count of attempted disorderly conduct and one count of obstructing a law enforcement officer. Most of those charged were women.
For one week in November, protesters blocked shipments of Stryker vehicles and other military cargo from the Port of Olympia to Fort Lewis. The military equipment was used in the Iraq war.
Larry Hildes, a lawyer, said he was angry the charges were filed so close to the one-year statute of limitations running out.
Thurston County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jon Tunheim said the charges were brought against the 26 protesters after a review of video and photographic evidence and the police reports his officer had received.

Sivey was working for wireless Internet provider Cascade 1 Inc. when he fell.
The State Department of Labor and Industries is investigating the accident.
The university at Ellensburg said Sivey was attending the university with his wife, Alisha, and was a construction management pre-major.
