OLYMPIA — The Olympia City Council passed an ordinance Tuesday night to ban camping on public property.
The ban will take effect on Feb. 8.
The Olympian reported that more than 20 people who spoke against the ordinance at the meeting shouted “Shame on you!” when it passed.
City Manager Steve Hall asked for the ordinance because of health and safety concerns about people camping outside City Hall.
