ABERDEEN — The state Committee on Geographic Names has named a pass in the Olympics mountains Burlap Pass after the late David “Burlap” Rabey, who was involved in an elk hunting camp in the area.
KBKW reports the committee receive 38 signatures in support of the name.
Rabey managed a trucking company in Grays Harbor County.
The pass had been unnamed but was unofficially known as Windy Pass.
Burlap Pass is on a Forest Service road at elevation 3,215 feet between the East and West forks of the Humptulips River.
