EVERETT — A fatal collision left one man dead and another injured Sunday in Snohomish.
Around 6:20 p.m. Sunday, a 2006 Hummer H3 was traveling north on Highway 9, just north of 164th Street Southeast, in the single lane, while a 2006 Toyota Sienna was traveling south in lane two, according to a Washington State Patrol press release. Troopers said the Hummer entered the center turn lane to pass northbound traffic and then entered the southbound lane, where it struck the Toyota. Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lane.
Around 6:54 p.m., Washington State Patrol spokesperson Kelsey Harding said in a social media post that Highway 9 at 164th Street Southeast was fully blocked while troopers investigate the collision. The Washington Department of Transportation announced all lanes had reopened around 2 a.m. in a social media post.
First responders pronounced the Toyota’s driver, Kenneth Bible, 82, of Snohomish, deceased at the scene. First responders transported the driver of the Hummer, 61, to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Drugs and alcohol were involved, the release said.
