EVERETT — One woman was injured and several pets died in a house fire Thursday evening in Marysville.
Fire crews responded around 6:10 p.m. to the 13000 block of 19th Avenue Northeast, where flames had engulfed a home and its attached garage, according to a press release from the Marysville Fire District.
The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with burns and smoke inhalation. Her condition was unknown, the release said. The family also lost several pets in the fire.
Firefighters fully extinguished the fire by about 7 p.m. The cause remained under investigation.
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. Multiple neighboring fire agencies provided mutual aid.
With warmer, drier weather on the way, the Marysville Fire District is reminding homeowners to burn yard debris safely, offering these six tips:
• “Always check local regulations and bans before burning.”
• “Maintain 50 feet of clearance from any buildings, fences, or trees/bushes.”
• “Clear a 10-foot firebreak around the burn area.”
• “Burn yard waste in small batches to keep fires small.”
• “Never leave a fire unattended.”
• “Keep a hose nearby and thoroughly extinguish all embers when you are done.”
