EVERETT — One man was injured in a stabbing incident early Friday morning in an Everett alley.
Around 12:46 a.m., police responded to a report of a man in an alley who was stabbed in the chest in the 2600 block of Wetmore Avenue, according to court documents.
A witness told police the suspect, 26, was yelling at her when a man in his 30s came “out of nowhere” and hit the suspect. A physical struggle ensued between the two men before the victim stood up and walked away, court documents said. The suspect fled the scene.
Officers established a K-9 track to locate the suspect and eventually found him at the intersection of Everett Avenue and Colby Avenue, court document said.
The Everett Fire Department transported the victim to the hospital, according to an Everett Police Department social media post.
During a police interview, the victim said he hit the suspect because he believed the witness was being assaulted. During the physical confrontation, the suspect reportedly presented a 3-inch folding knife and allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest, court documents said.
Law enforcement booked the suspect into the Snohomish County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault.
