SALEM, Ore. — Economists say the Oregon state treasury continues to collect revenue at a rate that makes it likely taxpayers will get kicker rebates.
The Statesman Journal reports that state economists gave a quarterly forecast Thursday and said they haven’t changed their view of Oregon’s recovery from the Great Recession.
They say job growth has spread beyond the Portland metropolitan area to Salem, Bend and Eugene. And the expectation is that Oregon will continue to add jobs in 2014 at a rate faster than in the nation at large.
Oregon’s one-of-a-kind kicker law requires that when revenues exceed projections by more than 2 percent, the extra money is kicked back to taxpayers.
Whether the checks actually go out, though, will depend on how income tax collections end up for 2014.
