SEATTLE — The original Red Robin restaurant near the University of Washington in Seattle will close March 21.
The company says the building needs a considerable investment and it decided not to renew its lease. The 50 employees will be offered jobs at other Red Robins.
The Seattle Times reports the restaurant was a hit with students 40 years ago because of its burgers and beer menu.
The restaurant chain, now known as Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, is headquartered in Greenwood Village, Colo., and has 430 restaurants in the United States and Canada.
