Senior center plans health fair
The Stillaguamish Senior Center has scheduled a caregiver conference and health and wellness fair next week.
The caregiver conference will be 9 a.m.-noon Thursday at the center, 18308 Smokey Point Blvd.
The health fair will be 1-3:30 p.m. that day, also at the center. The fair will include screening tests for diabetes and osteoporosis, as well as information on fraud against seniors and safety.

Edmonds
Arts festival begins today
The 47th annual Edmonds Arts Festival begins today and runs through Sunday.
Visitors will be able to view and purchase all types of art directly from more than 240 artist exhibitors selected from applicants from a dozen states and Canada. More than 350 artists are featured in a juried Gallery Exhibition inside the Frances Anderson Center, and more than $13,500 in prizes will be awarded to exhibition artists.
The free festival features a limited-edition poster, a juried children’s art exhibit and activities for children including face painting, hands-on art projects and live entertainment by jugglers, storytellers and musicians. Food is available, and there will be free entertainment all weekend.
Festival profits support art scholarships, educational grants, public art and community art organizations.
Festival hours are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial golf tourney planned
Registration is open for the Joe Richer Memorial Golf Tournament July 10 at Legion Memorial Golf Course.
The tournament raises money for the Joe Richer Junior Golf Club, which is the junior club for the Legion and Walter E. Hall city golf courses. Last year’s event raised more than $20,000.
The cost to enter this four-person scramble is $150 a player or $600 a team. Hole sponsorships, which include signage and tournament club recognition, are $1,000.

Bring lawn chairs to outdoor cinema
The Camano Island Summer Outdoor Cinema debuts at dusk tonight at E. Camano Drive and Dallman Road on the south end of the island.
The summer program is a free, laid-back screening of classic films every Friday night until Sept 17. Tonight’s film will be 1964’s “The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad.” Bring your own lawn chair, cushion or blanket, bug repellent and warm clothes.
Show up an hour before showtime for an open-mike session that allows anyone to show off their talents.

Park board to review survey
The city’s park board is scheduled for the final review of a brochure and a survey that will be distributed during Aquafest.
The brochure will show the location of city parks. The survey, which will be posted on the city’s Web site and also will be available at city offices, will assess people’s view of parks. The results will be used to update the park’s portion of the city’s comprehensive plan.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Lake Stevens Community-Senior Center, 1808 Main St.

Summer camp sign-ups begin
The Alderwood Boys &Girls Club is accepting sign-ups for 10 weeks of summer day camp. The camps are open for children entering kindergarten through eighth grade. The cost is $130 a week for K – 6 and $140 a week for seventh and eighth grades.

Council to hold special meeting
The City Council will conduct a special meeting to approve a bond offering of about $11 million of the city’s water and sewer revenue refunding bonds for 2004. The money will be used to refund the city’s outstanding water and sewer revenue refunding bonds from 1993 for a debt service savings.
The meeting will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 1049 State Ave.
Mill Creek
Musical theater coming soon
The city of Mill Creek presents two Happy Endings Musical Theatre Camps starting June 21 and July 19. Both camps will be held for two weeks, 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. weekdays at Mill Creek Elementary School. The camps are open to children entering grades three to eight.
The camps are two weeks of learning songs, dance routines, building stage confidence and preparing to perform a musical for family and friends. Experience is not required. Classes are taught by Connie Gagnon and Dana Heinz-Skaggs.

Town’s relay raises $52,000
The Relay for Life of Monroe, which took place June 12 and 13 at Monroe High School, raised about $52,000 – a 40 percent increase from last year – for the American Cancer Society.
The event had 27 teams and 412 participants, including 36 cancer survivors.

Mountlake Terrace
Senior group will have fashion show
The Mountlake Terrace Seniors Group will have a luncheon and fashion show noon-2 p.m. June 26 in the basement of Bethesda Lutheran Church, 23406 56th Ave. W.
