Everett: Famed accordionists to play
If you’re into polka and what the CIA World Fact Book calls an oil-rich bastion of welfare capitalism, you won’t want to miss the Lindesnes Trekkspillklubb this weekend as the band kicks off its 2007 American tour in Everett.
The group’s 26 accordion players who hail from the southernmost township in Norway — a major oil exporter — are scheduled to begin playing at 3 p.m. Sunday at Normanna Hall, 2725 Oakes Ave.
The club’s members range in age from 12 to 94. They are expected to play for about two hours. Dancing and comedy to follow. Food and drinks will also be available.
Suggested donations of $10 will be collected at the door.

Mukilteo: Council to discuss Rosehill
The Rosehill Community Center is expected to be discussed by the Mukilteo City Council during a study session planned for tonight.
The study session is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. at City Hall, 4480 Chennault Beach Road.
At a recent meeting, City Council members reviewed three options for what to do with the former school building.
The first design option, to renovate and preserve the building as it is, would cost the city about $10 million. To renovate the outside but redo the interior would cost about $11.5 million. To start from scratch and build a new community center would cost about $14.4 million.
No votes are taken during study sessions. The City Council could vote on which option it prefers Oct. 1, when it is scheduled to discuss Rosehill next.
Snohomish: City appoints tax panel
The City Council on Sept. 18 appointed five members to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. The committee reviews the city’s hotel/motel tax revenues and recommends to the City Council how to spend the tax.
The five members are Melody Clemans, Sandy Countryman, Sharon Sparks, Bill Fulton and Jay Meacham.
The city is anticipating about $9,000 will be available in the hotel and motel tax for community events in 2008. In 2007, the City Council used the tax revenues to pay for $8,265 worth of projects to promote tourism.
